Milo (Technical Information)

This Academy award winning motion control system is fast, accurate and reliable, whilst maintaining the portability needed in today's 'live action' environment. Incorporating 13 fully computer controlled axes with up to 8 extra channels available for additional Model Movers, it is quick and easy to set up either on location or in the studio and can be packed into custom flight cases for shipment to any destination. It has an operating range of 12' (3.65m) maximum height and 10' (3.05m) maximum reach all along precision track. As a portable system, the Milo can be positioned on decking to give a greater vertical range overall. If space on set is at a premium, the rig can also be removed from the rails and used without the track axis if required.

As part of the standard rig package, the "Slimline" head offers unlimited Pan and Roll and 270 degrees of Tilt. The standard head configuration is set to run a Mitchell S35 film camera that has been specially modified for compactness. The lens mount can be specified as Panavision (PV academy or full gate centre) or BNCR (academy centre only) and a range of Ground Glasses and BNCR lenses are available. Alternatively the head can be modified so that a range of standard cameras can be fitted including an ARRI 435 Advanced camera, without loss of range of movement. A special unit can also be fitted to the camera platform allowing the use of "Preston" or "Arri" lens control systems. The software will accurately record and save the wireless lens movements and then repeat that motion for selected takes. With the Mark Robert's custom FLAIR software all camera speeds from 0.01 to 120 Fps are achievable.
