The VFX Company Takes A Birds Eye View For 'A Knights Tale'

In this shot the camera flies over the medieval town and reveals the arena. For this sequence a helicopter shot of the full size arena set was tracked and that data used to create a camera path in space. The information could then be applied to an accurate 3D representation of the motion control rig and adjusted according to the position and scale of the model town in the studio.

The motion control rig was programmed directly using this data, on set.

Different elements were shot including mattes and a foreground church spire to add more depth to the sequence
