Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

For the 'OOMPA LUMPA' dance sequences, the VFX Co's Cyclops motion control system was used on set at Pinewood Studios over a 4 month period. 3D previs moves were imported into the software and triggered from a custom video system to ensure "sub frame accurate" matching of lip sync to the complex sound track.

Multi passes of the single actor were filmed using an Arri 435 Advanced camera controlled through the Motion Control software. The video image was simultaneously recorded and the selected levels were composited on set to ensure that there was no conflict in actor position between passes.

One of the VFX Co's Milo systems was also used on a platform in the 'chocolate river' and also for a scene on the backlot in the snow.
